Seems like troubles for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ refuse to die down. After the furore it created when Karni Sena workers beat Bhansali up and destroyed the sets, the shoot was completed discreetly. Even after sending a written confirmation that there is no such explicit sequence in the film that would hurt the sentiments of Rajputs or distort the legend of the queen, the fire refuses to die down.
Recently, we reported how Gujarat government has been seeking a ban on the movie as it does not want tension to broil before the elections that are coming near, and now, Karni Sena is back in action as they want to observe a ‘bandh’ in Chittorgarh. In conversation with the agency, Vishavbandhu Rathore, Pradesh Mahasachiv Sri Rajput Karni Sena, a Rajput community organisation, said, “We are not against the movie as such. What we want is that Bhansali’s team should screen the movie for historians and intellectuals before releasing it as we are afraid and concerned that historical facts have been distorted in the movie.”
Mahipal Singh Makrana, state president of Karni Sena, added, “We had called for Chittorgarh bandh today, and we got support from everyone. It was a complete bandh in Chittorgarh today.”
Not just this, they also revealed that they will be holding a rally against the movie on November 12, in Gandhinagar, Guajarat.
Karni Sena is also claiming that the incident when Khilji saw Padmavati in reflection of a mirror is false as mirror was invented much after that.
What is fact and what is fiction, we will only know when the film hits the theatres, provided it is not hampered by miscreants and false protectors of culture, such as these.
Starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, ‘Padmavati’ will hit the screens on December 1.
