‘Padmavati’ Deepika Padukone shoots for the ‘Jauhar’ scene with 300 junior artistes?

After wowing us with her stunning red carpet appearances at Cannes Film Festival’s 2017 edition, Deepika Padukone is back and is shooting for the magnum opus ‘Padmavati‘, with utmost dedication. The period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is being shot in Mumbai’s Film City. And recently, we heard something interesting.

If reports are to believed, then Deepika Padukone has already shot for the climax of this film with almost 300 junior artistes. We all remember the legend of Rani Padmavati, who jumped into the pyre along with hundreds of other females, to escape the wrath of Mughals, once their king and soldiers were dead and the city was taken over. Sends chills down your spine, right?

The same sequence, when replicated on screen, will see Deepika, who plays the role of Rani Padmavati, performing the ‘Jauhar’ (self-immolation) scene. Reportedly, the entire sequence has left director Bhansali impressed with the way it has turned out and shot. (Also Read: Sad! No Deepika Padukone in ‘Badlapur 2’)

In the earlier days, Jauhar was the Hindu custom of mass self-immolation by women to avoid capture, enslavement and rape by invaders when they were facing defeat during a war.

A source present on the sets has quoted to Pinkvilla, “Deepika Padukone was exceptional in the scene. It was an emotional sequence and took sometime to be shot. As good as 300 junior artistes were present on the set. A lot of gunny bags were kept on the set, just as a precaution to avoid any sort of tragedy. The security on the set was also beefed up so that no details or looks from the shoot get leaked.” [sic]

“Sanjay Leela Bhansali has shot for Deepika’s solo climax scene first. Instead of waiting for all the three lead actors to shoot the crucial segment, he decided to go solo and get Shahid, Deepika and Ranveer together only when it is required. There are some war sequences that have to be shot followed by a face-off between Ranveer and Shahid. But these will be shot once Ranveer resumes on June 8 after his London trip,” added another source. [sic]

After this, we just cannot wait for the saga of Queen Padmavati to unfold on the big screens.

Talking about the film, it witnesses Deepika playing the titular role. Shahid Kapoor will be seen as Raja Rawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh plays the role of Sultan Alauddin Khilji.

The film is slated to release on November 17, 2017.
