Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Padmavati’ has been embroiled in controversy from the time it went on floors. As the film approaches its release date, that of 1st December, the makers are finding support from within the fraternity too. The Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA) held a press conference in Mumbai yesterday afternoon where they rendered full support to Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali and backed the film. Various members of the association like Sudhir Misra, Ashoke Pandit, Sushant Singh, Vikram Gokhale and others voiced their opinion in favour of a smooth release for ‘Padmavati’.

President of IFTDA, Ashoke Pandit said, “There are 5 organizations which are important for the film industry and we are being abused and we don’t deserve this type of treatment. It has happened to Madhur Bhandarkar in the past and now Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It is important to stand up together and speak together because the abuse is not for him but for the entire film fraternity”

Thanking the support of the association, Deepika Padukone took to Twitter and expressed her gratitude. CEO of Bhansali Productions, Shobha Sant too tweeted thanking the filmmakers for backing them.

With pressure mounting from within the industry demanding a smooth release, we hope the government takes note and ensures that there won’t be any untoward incident before or after the release of the film from the groups threatening to stall the film.
