While Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati‘ struggles to go past troubles originating from community prejudice, film fraternities across the country are praying for the film’s smooth release. Despite repeated clarifications from the production house, Rajput organisations refuse to acknowledge that neither their community neither their mythical queen has been shown in a poor light.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone, who plays the titular role, says she is proud to have been a part of this film.
In a conversation with Mumbai Mirror, Deepika was asked whether she thinks the pre-release chaos largely impacts on artistes’ creative freedom. (Also Read: Deepika Padukone’s ‘Ghoomar’ outfit weighed 15-20 kgs as she danced, reveal the designers)
“Yes, people are allowed to express themselves without having even seen the film. And having worked in the film, I can assure you it’s one film every Indian will be proud of. I’m glad we are showcasing Padmavati’s journey. Her story needs to be told not just to people in this country but across the world,” she says.
At the same time, she says Bhansali is a director who brings out the best from her. Oh yes, and Ranveer Singh too!
