Deepika Padukone in Padmavati

The controversies surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ do not seem to die down. The threats are turning dirtier with members of Karni Sena not even sparing the lead actress Deepika Padukone and resorting to expressing the menacing intentions of harming her physically. While Rajasthan is burning over the issue and so are some other states, Maharashtra government has come up with a welcome move, which will probably give some relief to the makers.

The government of Maharashtra has stood firmly by Bollywood, and have said that they will be providing protection to all the theatres that will be screening the movie, to prevent any anti-social elements from creating any sort of ruckus.

Ranjit Patil, Minister of State for Home (Urban) addressed the media and said, “All measures will be taken. We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis to ensure that no untoward incident happens.” (Also Read:Padmavati: Yogi Adityanath led UP government wants the film to be postponed)

Amidst all the protests which are totally uncalled for, given the contents of the movie have not even been released yet, this is indeed a good move on the part of the Maharashtra government. Earlier, even Maharashtra Navniram Sena (MNS) had issued a statement that they will not protest against the movie without watching it first.

With so many issues before the release of the movie, we can only hope that it hits the theatres in a smooth sail, on December 1.
