Following the violent outburst by Karni Sena, the makers of ‘Padmavati’ have decided to push the release date of the film. In an official statement, Viacom 18 made the announcement that ‘Padmavati’ will not release on December 1. But this does not serve the purpose as protestors want the film to be banned. A plea was filed in Supreme Court asking for a nationwide ban on this film. But on Monday, the apex court rejected this plea and ruled out that it will not interfere in the functioning of Censor Board. “‘Padmavati’ has not yet received certification from CBFC. In view of this, our interference will tantamount to pre-judging the matter. We don’t intend to do so,” the court said in its order.
Advocate ML Sharma had filed this plea in Supreme Court asking the court to block the release of the film until objectionable scenes from the film are deleted.
Meanwhile, the officials of CBFC are mighty upset with SLB as the filmmaker showed the film to a few journalists without obtaining a certificate from the board.
