Padmini Kolhapure teams up with Ashutosh Gowariker for ‘Panipat’

Ace director, Ashutosh Gowariker’s high octane period drama ‘Panipat’ has an amazing line-up of actors. The film that stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in pivotal roles, has a new member on board.

Padmini Kolhapure, the actress who debuted as a child artist in Raj Kapoor’s ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’, was last seen in Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’. As per various reports, Padmini will portray the role of Gopika Bai in Gowarikar’s period drama.

The film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and shared the news. He captioned the post, “Padmini Kolhapure joins the cast of Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical #Panipat… The versatile actress will be portraying Gopika Bai in the film… Costars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon… 6 Dec 2019 release”.

The first look of the film was unveiled earlier this year and the makers have kept their fans glued with a teaser poster featuring Sanjay Dutt holding a talvar in his hands. As the full title of the film reads, ‘Panipat: The Great Betrayal’, it promises to show us the iconic battle of Panipat between the Marathas and Mughals.

Ashutosh Gowarikar, who is best known for his period dramas (Jodha Akhbar, Lagaan and Mohenjo Daro) has left no stoned unturned to make ‘Panipat’. The film is produced by Sunita Gowariker in association with Vision World and is slated to release on December 6, 2019.
