On February 9, veteran actor Rajiv Kapoor, younger son of Raj Kapoor breathed his last in Mumbai. He was 58 years old. Rajiv suffered a heart attack. Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news as well and told Times of India, “I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him.”
Fans and friend gave their heartfelt condolences yesterday as the whole Kapoor family was gathered at Rajiv’s Chembur residence for his last rites. Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiar, who was seen in Henna that Chimpu produced, also mourned his death. She recalled how wonderful a person was Rajiv and how they had great times during Henna.
In an interview with Times of India, Zeba said, “I’m absolutely devastated to hear this sudden, very tragic news, I just don’t know what to say. I’m in touch with Daboo (Randhir), who has been through so much these past few years, losing his dear mother and siblings. Recently I was not in touch with (Rajiv) Chimpu directly but asked about him and Daboo always said that he was fine.”
She further added that Rajiv Kapoor was an adorable person, he was very sweet, sensitive and kind, “We spent a lot of time together during the production of ‘Henna’ and had some great times. He had a wonderful sense of humour like all the Kapoors do, my memories with him are all of delightful times, fun and laughter.”

Meanwhile, Rishi Kapoor‘s wife and Rajiv’s sister-in-law Neetu Kapoor took to Instagram and revealed that there will be no Chautha held for Rajiv due to the pandemic. She wrote, “Due to the current pandemic circumstances, there will be no Chautha held for the late Mr. Rajiv Kapoor for safety reasons. May his soul rest in peace. The entire Raj Kapoor family is a part of your grief too (sic).”
