JP Dutta said, ” The Indo-China war of 1962 was all about deceit where two of our battalions were wiped out by the Chinese. In 1967 when we faced them again at Nathu La, it was time we avenged the solider that died in 62.”

JP Dutta explained that trying to recreate those times today to shoot required a lot of research. He added, ” Those were different times as the weaponry and artillery used by the army were different from what they use currently. To make the war sequences look completely authentic and real in the movie, the army helped us with real guns such as MMG Rifle, LMG Rifle, Rocket launchers, 393 Rifles, etc. They sourced it especially for us from their archives and they were used under complete surveillance and guidance by an Army officer assigned by them. The gunshots and fire sequences shown in the movie are created in real life while we were shooting for the war scenes extensively in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir.”

Paltan showcases the story of the Indian forces battling a Chinese infiltration. Based on the Nathu La military clashes of 1967 which took place along the Sikkim border.
