Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj left for his heavenly abode in New Jersey, US on Monday (August 17) as per a report in ANI. He was 90. He is survived by his wife Madhura Shantaram, son, Shaarang Dev Pandit, and daughter, Durga Jasraj.

His musical career was of more than 80 years and he bagged many prestigious awards. The music legend has contributed to both classical and semi-classical vocals. He was honoured with Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan during his lifetime.

Pandit Jasraj sang songs like ‘Vandana Karo’, composed by the composer Vasant Desai, for the film ‘Ladki Sahyadri Ki’ (1966), also for the film ‘Birbal My Brother’ and a ballad, ‘Vaada Tumse Hai Vaada’ for a horror film ‘1920’ by Vikram Bhatt.
