Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer OMG 2 is one of the most awaited movies of the year. It’s a sequel to the 2012 movie OMG – Oh My God! OMG 2 is making headlines as it’s reported that the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) is putting a hold on the movie. Recently, Pankaj Tripathi opened up about the controversy surrounding the film.
Here’s what Pankaj Tripathi has to say on OMG 2 release
In a recent interview with Zoom TV, Pankaj Tripathi was asked about the film’s release. He said, “All I will say is, please don’t believe what is being written about it. Log bahut kuch bol rahe hain. Lekin sachchai samne aayegi jab film release hogi (People are saying all sorts of things, but the truth will be out when the film releases).”
Pankaj made an interesting point during the interview. He debunked the myth that serious films are inherently more challenging than lighthearted comedies. According to him, doing comedy can be just as tough. He said that in comedy an actor faces uncertainty about the audience’s reaction to their performance.
If you are wondering why CBFC is hesitant to give the certificate for the release, it’s because of the previous movie releases. Earlier we exclusively reported that OMG 2 will most like get its certification by next week. The source says, “After what happened with Adipurush, the CBFC has gotten extra careful about films that deal with subjects of God and religion. For the same, they want a revision committee to see the film thoroughly.”
Directed by Amit Rai, the film stars Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva and Pankaj Tripathi as God’s devotee. It also stars Yami Gautam as a lawyer. OMG 2 is slated to release in theatres on August 11. The movie will be clashing with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2, releasing on the same date.
