Parvathy Thiruvothu recently grabbed attention as she casually used the term ‘Bipolar disorder’. She was slammed by netizens for casually using such a severe mental disease to explain a situation. The Malayalam actress did not shy away from accepting her mistake and she even apologized for the same.
A clip from the Film Companion’s chat show with Anupama Chopra got out in which Parvathy called out ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kabir Singh’s misogyny while Vijay Deverakonda was present in the same room. She was lauded for not mincing her words. However, while explaining how there’s a difference between ‘Joker’ and ‘Arjun Reddy’, the actress casually used the phrase ‘bipolar disorder’.
Netizens immediately pointed out how Paravathy used a serious mental disease casually. One of the users wrote, “Okay ya’all Parvathy is definitely rocking it here but DID SHE JUST SAY “THAT’S A BIPOLAR BEHAVIOUR?!” – Sorry i couldn’t continue watching it post that (sic).”
To which Parvathy offered a kind apology after accepting her mistake. Replying to the user, Parvathy wrote, “Hi Divya! Came across this comment. Thank you! It was a wrong choice of words and I stand corrected. This is important as I myself have been trying to unlearn usages that allow using grave mental disabilities as a mere “adjective” to explain a situation,” wrote the ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’ actress.
