Payal Ghosh reacts to Richa Chadha’s defamation suit; says, “I did not defame her so I don’t understand what her case is all about”

Richa Chadha recently filed a defamation suit against Payal Ghosh, Kamaal R Khan and others for falsely dragging her name in the #MeToo case filed against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

Now reacting to the reports of the defamation suit, Payal has said that she has nothing to do with Richa and that she hasn’t done anything to defame her.

When asked about Richa’s defamation suit, Payal told ANI, “I don’t have anything to do with Richa Chadha. I did not defame her so I don’t understand what her case is all about. I have only stated what Mr. Kashyap had told me. It’s not my personal view. So this defamation case is not valid. Anyways, if she has said that, then will face that and we’ll carify.”

Earlier today Payal met National Commission for Women’s (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma. Speaking about their meeting Payal told ANI, “I had a discussion with Rekha ma’am on how the investigation can speed up. She has assured me help.”

Payal even thanked the NCW chief for her support. “I thank @sharmarekha ma’am the @NCWIndia with the bottom of my heart for standing by me. When some women chose to take sides of a vulture, the organisation stood by me,” the actress tweeted. Payal has even requested the Maharashtra government to provide her Y-category security.

According to the Mumbai Mirror report, Richa filed a defamation suit against Payal, Kamaal R Khan and a news channel for maligning her name and tarnishing her hard-earned reputation. She is demanding Rs. 1.1 crore in damages.

Speaking about the suit, the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ actress’ lawyer told Times of India, “Since the matter is sub judice, I can’t say much. But I believe that the statements against Richa Chadha are defamatory and can affect any self-respecting woman. I am sure justice will be done.”

Payal has accused Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct. She had even claimed that Anurag had told her that actresses like Richa and others have performed sexual favours for him. And that statement irked Richa, who first sent a legal notice to Payal and now has filed a suit before Bombay High Court.
