Payal Rohatgi granted bail after being arrested for her derogatory comments on the Nehru-Gandhi family

Actress and former ‘Bigg Boss’ contestant Payal Rohatgi was detained by the Rajasthan Police in Bundi on December 15. She was detained for her defamatory comments on former Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, his father Motilal Nehru, and the entire Nehru family. Post the detention she applied for bail but her bail plea was rejected on December 16, and it was reported that she will be in jail till December 24.

But now as reported by PTI, she has been granted bail by a local court in Bundi, Rajasthan, on Tuesday i.e December 17.

When Payal was arrested she took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “I am arrested by #RajasthanPolice for making a video on #MotilalNehru which I made from taking information from @google Freedom of Speech is a joke ”

Now, on getting the bail, Payal is yet to share the news on social media.

For the unversed, Charmesh Sharma, general secretary of the Rajasthan Youth Congress, had filed a police complaint against Rohatgi at the Sadar police station in Bundi on October 2. In his complaint, Sharma alleged that Rohatgi posted content that was against the Nehru-Gandhi family on her Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts on September 6 and September 21 this year.
