Veteran actress Sridevi’s mysterious death in February this year left the entire nation devastated. According to a report in Hindustan Times, filmmaker Sunil Singh went ahead and filed a petition seeking an independent probe into the actress’ death under mysterious circumstances.
In his plea, Sunil argued that the actress was 5 feet 7 inches tall and the bathtub in which she apparently drowned was just 5 feet long. The shocking revelation was made by Singh’s lawyer senior advocate Vikas Singh who argued before the court that an insurance policy worth Rs 240 crore was brought in Sridevi’s name in Oman. Apparently, the policy stated that the money could be encashed only if the actor died in Dubai. (Also read: On Mother’s Day, Janhvi Kapoor shares a major throwback picture with mom Sridevi)
However, the PIL was rejected by Supreme Court. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said that such pleas cannot be entertained and they have dismissed similar pleas in the past.
The filmmaker had moved to SC after Delhi High Court refused to consider his PIL stating that the concerned authorities in India and Dubai have already looked into the incident.
We wonder what the Kapoor family has to say about this PIL.
