The team up of Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and filmmaker Shoojit Sircar is known for giving a film like ‘Piku’ which even fetched Big B the National Film Award for Best Actor. Now as this pair would be gearing up for the promotions of their next project ‘Pink’ which has Shoojit as a producer, the filmmaker revealed that he owes a debt to Mr. Bachchan which he has been repaying.
Not many would know, but the association of Shoojit and Amitabh had started with a film called ‘Shoebite’ which was stalled after completing much of the shoot, and as fate has it this movie never got released. At the trailer launch of their upcoming film ‘Pink’, when Big B was asked about a question on ‘Shoebite’, he replied to it saying, “He (Sircar) is still cutting the shoes”.
To which Shoojit replied, “When a film does not release, it is very saddening and you feel really bad for it. But we have moved on.”
“We are making films and we are still trying if something can happen but I think that I am repaying back Mr. Bachchan with ‘Piku’ or even ‘Pink’ as we could not do that film and that film could not release. So this is my debt that I am repaying him,” added the filmmaker.
That’s indeed a loss to all moviegoers that ‘Shoebite’ could never be reached now among the viewers. But we definitely believe that with ‘Piku’ and now ‘Pink’, Shoojit has done a good amount of repayment to Senior Bachchan and us!
