In the end of 2015, both Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan & Shah Rukh Khan were in the news for their respective remarks on the growing intolerance in India, which provoked massive popular re-action. It was mostly extreme, negative and aggressive which led the Mumbai police to tighten their security. However, the police security has been reduced.
Shah Rukh Khan’s 2010 film ‘My Name Is Khan ‘ had created controversies since his dialogue ‘My Name Is Khan & I am not a terrorist’ used in the film went viral and he reportedly became a target of various extremist groups. Aamir Khan’s PK was accused of having mocked the hindu gods as well, which led to several parties demanding a ban on the film and the actor was apparently in threat. Both the actors’ takes on intolerance caused the Mumbai police increase their security. However, recently, the the securities were loosened as the Mumbai Police felt that such high degree of security was ‘unwanted’ for them.
Apart from the Khans, securities of Farah Khan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani have been completely removed.
