Ponniyin Selvan part 1: Vikram looks fierce as he turns warrior in PS-1

Mani Ratnam directed PS-1 aka Ponniyin Selvan: I has been one of the most awaited releases ever since its announcement. The epic period drama based on the 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan, is Ratnam’s dream project and he has been trying to adapt it for the big screen since the mid 90s. He revived the project in 2019 and now that the film is nearing release, the glimpses coming from it have just increased the audience’s excitement.

Today, the makers of PS-1 unveiled a new poster from the film that features Vikram as a warrior and the actor looks every bit fierce in it. With long hair and a warrior attire, Vikram’s stare as he rides a horse is piercing and gives a glimpse into the royal world that Ratnam has created for the big screen experience.

Sharing the intriguing look of Vikram, the makers wrote, “Welcome the Chola Crown Prince! The Fierce Warrior. The Wild Tiger. Aditya Karikalan! (sic)”. The fans have gone gaga over the look as one of them wrote, “Terrific Look”, while another one wrote, “Shutting all the people who were mocking his FL. Here comes the King.”

Ponniyin Selvan: I aka PS-1 features an ensemble cast of Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, R Sarathkumar, R Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj and Rahman. The film is being made in two parts and the team completed filming in September last year. It is eyeing a release of September 30, 2022 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Made as one of the most expensive Indian films, PS-1 is a highly awaited release of the year. A few months ago, Aishwarya’s look from the film was leaked online and it made fans all the more curious seeing the actress in that regal avatar. Set in the Chola dynasty, the film revolves around the early life of prince Arulmozhi Varman, who was later known as the great Chola emperor Raja Raja Chola.
