Bollywood is not an easy place for outsiders as we have seen Bollywood connection has worked for the star kids more often. But for some celebs like Shamita Shetty, Uday Chopra, and Adhyayan Suman among others, it didn’t work out. Whereas we have also seen outsiders like Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao, Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Swara Bhasker and others have made it on their own in Bollywood without any Godfather. We can’t deny the fact that to make a mark in Bollywood is not an easy job but these celebs had really worked hard and never let anyone bog them down. They had tasted the bitterest sweet experiences in the industry and excelled in their works.
Post Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the ‘nepotism’, and ‘outsider vs insider’ debate yet again sparked and many celebs came forward to speak about it. We recently had a conversation with Pooja Batra where we asked her if all these happened in the past as well and if she had faced any such experience. To which she said, “I was a newcomer myself and I had once done a whole schedule of a movie. The director called me and said, ‘we want to change you and this big actress (Pooja didn’t want to reveal the name) has agreed to take your role.’ So, it happens all the time.”
When asked how she dealt with it, she said, “You need to have guts and strong confidence in you knowing that once a movie is shot, no producer and director can do this unless he tells you what’s wrong. I have lost many projects which came to me and went to other actors who were somebody’s daughter or bigger in terms of stardom.”

While talking about Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Pooja said, “I feel very bad because he was such a talented actor and the scope for him was endless. It hurts me sometimes when I think that he ended such a nice life he had so soon.”
On the work front, Pooja Batra was recently seen in the short film ‘Padmavyuha’ that was screened at the International Indian Film Festival Toronto. She will be next seen in ‘Draupadi Unleashed’. It is an Indian film made by an American director. She will also be seen in ‘Squad’, the debut movie of Danny Denzongpa’s son Rinzing Denzongpa.
