Kaustav Narayan Niyogi, the director of Pooja Bhatt‘s upcoming production ‘Cabaret’ is grateful to Pooja for helping him quit his bad habit completely.

The director, who suffered from a drinking habit, has now quit alchohol and all due to Pooja. Apparently when his Cabaret producer offered him a chance to helm the film, she put up a condition saying Kaustav will be off alcohol for the duration of the film’s shoot. Now that the film has already been completed, Kaustav has quit alcohol completely.

Speaking about the same, Pooja says, “For me Cabaret is a triumph on two major counts — one is Richa Chadha’s transformation and acceptance as someone who can be as glamorous as she can be authentic as an artiste. And secondly, because my director has managed to give up and stay off alcohol through this film which is a major personal victory for him.”

The character of Richa’s love in the movie played by Gulshan Devaiah is also based on the director. Pooja adds, “Yes, Gulshan’s character is based on Kaustav himself. He, too, was drowning in alcohol until he decided to direct Cabaret and make a debut as a director and music director at 50!”
