EXCLUSIVE: Pooja Hegde opens up on not having work for one year: Nothing used to work out

Pooja Hegde is one of most sought-after actresses. She hasn’t done many Hindi films, but down the South she is a bonafide superstar. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Pooja spoke about her journey – how Miss India served as a stepping stone for films but when she took the plunge, she was met with a lot of rejections and conditions. She also revealed of not having work for almost a year.

Pooja made her debut in South with Mugamoodi’ in 2012. But, it didn’t do well. When asked about it, she said, “Honestly, I really didn’t let it play in my mind. It happened because I did Miss India. When I got the offer I was like I didn’t know if I could do it because I have never done acting. I had so many doubts about myself. My mom was like ‘Pooja how will you know if you don’t try. What’s the worst that can happen?’ I did it and it didn’t do well. If you know me as a kid, I have been a lost child. As a kid, I never knew what I wanted to do in my life ever. Even the film didn’t well, I knew that now I should pick and choose my films. So, for one year I didn’t have any work. No work was coming to me. I remember going for auditions and nothing used to work out. Things didn’t work out until I went for an audition for an ad.”

She added, “I got a call and was selected and it was an ad with Ranbir Kapoor. Tha ad got me Mohenjo Daro, other South films. So, that ad gave me so much. It just like suddenly things changed for me.”
