Pop Singer Sukhbir Singh detained at Lahore airport

Punjabi pop singer Sukhbir Singh was reportedly held at the Lahore airport recently. Sukhbir who is based in Dubai, was found to be carrying USD 27,000, in excess of permissible limits. The Bhangra singer was told by the authorities at the Lahore airport that he cannot carry more than the permissible limit of USD 10,000.

Sukhbir Singh was in Lahore to perform at a marriage ceremony. He had performed on August 7 and 8, therefore was was given USD 30,000. He had reached the the Allama Iqbal International Airport at around 11.30 am to catch a Dubai-bound flight, when he was found to be carrying more than the permissible amount.

Sources said, “Sukhbir was given USD 30,000 to perform in both events on August 7 and 8 where Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali also performed. However, before check-in the singer asked the authorities how much amount he could carry abroad. On learning that permissible limit is USD 10,000, he left the airport as he had more than USD 10,000.”
