Prachi Desai: Directors really need to start giving me different roles now

The gorgeous Prachi Desai will soon be seen playing the role of Naureen, former wife of Mohammad Azharuddin in Tony D’souza’s ‘Azhar’. The character certainly carries in it multiple layers and is not easy to be executed.

We have always seen Prachi performing intense characters. The ones which are rather serious. But the actress says she is exactly opposite of how we see her on the screen!

In a recent interaction, we asked if she wants to try her hands at some different roles too. “I hope the industry wakes up to seeing the real me, which is long overdue! They keep exploiting somebody’s image over and over again. It’s like, you took a chance and it worked. Because earlier certain things worked for me, everybody wants to keep repeating that. But that’s not the real me! I am actually looking for something more youth-centric, something which is more suited to my age, where the co-actors are more of my age,” the actress laughed.

Off late, Bollywood has had films like ‘Queen’, ‘Neerja’ and more; films that are carried out solely by the female lead. In many instances, female characters now have a gravity like never before. Is she up for a women-centric film as well?

“For an actor, it is the most fulfilling thing when you get an opportunity like that. I would love to do something like that,” she answered.
