Swara Bhasker’s web series ‘Rasbhari‘ released recently. Lyricist and Central Board of Film Certification Chairman, Prasoon Joshi had taken to his Twitter handle to express his disappointment in the series’ ‘irresponsible content’. Responding to Joshi’s tweet, Swara defended the scene from her series.
Expressing his displeasure over the scene where a young girl is dancing provocatively, Prasoon tweeted, “Saddened by web series #Rasbhari’s irresponsible content portraying a little girl child dancing provocatively in front of men drinking.Creators& audience need 2seriously rethink Freedom of expression or freedom of exploitation? Let’s spare children in the desperate need4 entertainment(sic).”

Responding to Prasoon’s interpretation of the scene, Swara tried to explain to him the real motive behind it. “With respect sir, perhaps you have misunderstood the scene. It’s absolutely opposite to how you have described the scene. The child is dancing by her own choice, the father gets awkward and embarrassed on seeing it. The girl is simply dancing. She doesn’t know that society will sexualise her too. That’s all there is to this scene#Rasbhari(sic).”
#Rashbhari https://t.co/xUAmRBHHjJ

The actress went on to retweet a user’s tweet that questioned Prasoon’s intentions. “Sir there are various web shows on different OTT platforms showing objectionable content. This tweet, however, reeks of some other hidden agenda. Is it the presence of @ReallySwara that forces you to take such an offensive stand?”
