On Monday, Prateik Babbar remembered his late mother Smita Patil on her 35th death anniversary. Smita started her journey as a television news presenter. Later, she made her debut in Bollywood with Mere Saath Chal (1974) and went on to feature in several films.
The ‘Ek Deewana Tha’ actor also shared a black and white monochrome picture of his mother on his Instagram handle, he penned an emotional caption, that read as: “ माँ होती ही ऐसी है..तभी सबकी इतनी परवाह कर पाती है..ओ दिल से जीती है..दिमाग से नहीं “..~ smita patil (1955 – 1986)35 years ago today.. rest in greatness my guardian angel.. ❤️,” he captioned the post.

Earlier, this year, the ‘Chhichore’ actor got a new tattoo on his chest, which is an ode to his mother. The tattoo read as: “Smita 1955 – (infinity symbol).” In his caption, he wrote, “Inked my mother’s name on my heart.. smita #4ever 1955 – ♾.”

Smita Patil passed away on 13 December 1986 at the age of 31 due to childbirth complications a few weeks after giving birth to Prateik. After his mother’s demise, the actor was raised by his maternal grandparents in Mumbai. He had also revealed that he had a strained relationship with his father, Raj Babbar. Meanwhile, Prateik’s stepmother is actress Nadira Babbar and his half-siblings are Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar, who are also actors.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Prateik will next be seen in Brahmastra. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Ayan Nayak, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles. He also has Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘India Lockdown’ in his kitty. Next, he will be seen in Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bachchan Pandey’ with Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles.
