Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas pledge support as India suffers the world’s worst COVID crisis: My home is bleeding

Priyanka Chopra joins the forces with Indian NGOs and organizations to help India fight its war against COVID 19. India is currently the worst affected country globally with nearly 3.79 lakh new cases and over 3000 deaths in one day. After voicing her concern over the lack of healthcare facilities in India, Priyanka today shared a video message for her followers to come forward and donate a small amount that can help India fight against COVID 19. In a heartbreaking message, she emphasized that “India, her home, is bleeding” and the world needs to step up and help. She also revealed that she along with her husband Nick Jonas have contributed their bit and are hoping that people can donate in huge numbers as well.

“#TogetherForIndia India, my home, is suffering the world’s worst Covid crisis, and we all need to help! People are dying in record numbers. There is illness everywhere, and it’s only continuing to spread and kill at great speed and scale,” Priyanka Chopra wrote and added, “I have set up a fundraiser with GiveIndia, the largest organization on the ground in India providing Covid relief. Whatever you can spare, truly makes a difference. Nearly 63 million people follow me on here, if even 100,000 of you donate $10, that’s $1 Million, and that’s huge.”

She revealed that the donations made will go directly “to healthcare physical infrastructure (including Covid care centres, Isolation centers, and oxygen generation plants), medical equipment, and vaccine support and mobilization.”

She concluded, “Please please donate. Nick and I already have and will continue to contribute. We have all seen how far and wide this virus can spread, an ocean between us makes no difference. No one is safe unless everyone is safe. It’s so heartening to see so many people stepping up to help in so many ways. We need to beat this virus, and to do that requires ALL of us. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU! ❤️”

In these testing times, many other celebrities have also stepped up to help. Twinkle Khanna, Akshay Kumar, Gurmeet Chaudhary, Sonu Sood, Ayushmann Khurrana, Salman Khan, Tahira Kashyap are among the few names who have made contributions.
