As Priyanka Chopra gets trolled, Simi Garewal jumps to her defence

Recently, veteran actress and host Simi Garewal shared a throwback video of Priyanka Chopra from her talk show. The video had Priyanka singing Mariah Carey’s 1993 song Hero. Priyanka’s voice is as mesmerising as it has always been. While there were many who loved the video and Priyanka’s talent, there were a few who did criticise her. And one such person got a befitting reply from Simi ji herself.

In the video, Priyanka says “This is for my daddy,” before starting the song. Praising the velvety voice of the actress, Simi ji wrote, “INDIA’S MOST DESIRABLE! Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Her Dad’s dream for her was that she should become an international singer. She exceeded it by becoming a super global star!”

She added that she really wants to hear a duet between Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas. Simi ji added, “But seriously, with that voice don’t you think Priyanka and Nick should cut a duet? I think it would ROCK!!” While the netizens praised Priyanka, there was one who tried to troll her.

The user wrote, “”So much drama in singing, probably to cover the flaws, You’d notice that actual trained singers don’t have this much drama.” Simi ji instantly jumped to Priyanka’s defence schooling the user. She replied, “Drama?? Where was the drama? Do elaborate..(if you can!) (face with rolling eyes emoji).”

Simi ji on fighting for honour

The veteran actress than posted another comment to assert the need of fighting for oneself. She said, “Never ‘forget fighting’ for your honour. You had the courage to defend your values – and yourself. I wish you continued strength to live your life on your terms. I wish you peace of mind, I wish you daily joys. You are a true hero. Believe it! (smiling face with halo emoji).”

The clip that Simi ji shared is from 2012 and just a year later, Priyanka lost her father. The actress was very close to him and even has a tattoo reading ‘Daddy’s li’l girl’. Today, she is a mother herself to daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.

On the work front, Priyanka was last seen in Citadel. She has a film with Idris Elba and John Cena up next titled Heads Of State. Apart from that, she also stars alongside Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa.
