Actress Priyanka Chopra is among the new spokesmodels to join Victoria’s Secret lingerie brand to bring about the change in its image. Victoria’s Secret has decided to ditch its supermodels aka Angels as they want to focus more on women empowerment. The brand has now given a platform to female athletes, activists and entrepreneurs to work towards this new plan of action. In a recent post of the official handle on Victoria’s Secret Instagram, Priyanka Chopra was introduced among the new members of the brand.
The post read, “We are proud to announce an exciting new partnership platform, #TheVSCollective, designed to shape the future of Victoria’s Secret. In an interview with New York Times, Martin Waters, chief executive of the brand said, “When the world was changing, we were too slow to respond, we needed to stop being about what men want and to be about what women want.” The report further said that Priyanka, along with the other models will model for the brand, advertise and promote it on social media. Talking about being part of VS, Priyanka said, “A new era always brings a sense of freedom, and the opportunity to play a part in shaping the evolution and future success of a heritage brand like Victoria’s Secret is so exciting to me. As we work together to chart the path forward in a new and impactful way, I’m not only looking forward to developing future collections that are inclusive of all people, but I am most excited for new customers and for those who have always been a customer of Victoria’s Secret to feel represented and like they belong.”
Apart from their exotic lingerie, Victoria’s Secret was quite famous for its Angels who were worldwide supermodels like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge, Behati Prinsloo, Barbara Palvin and Alessandra Ambrosio. The brand was quite criticised for promoting unrealistic body images and also its hyper-sexualised annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
