Priyanka Chopra to play a female lead opposite Mahesh Babu in SS Rajamouli’s next? Here’s what we know

Former Miss World and global icon Priyanka Chopra has now bagged the next film by SS Rajamouli as per reports. The film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role and the film is tentatively titled SSMB29.

Priyanka Chopra and SS Rajamouli have a good history and they seem to run into each other quite often. As per Filmfare sources, the actress-director is in talks and have been negotiating. However, the final details are yet to be revealed. PeeCee might just sign the dotted line soon and that’s an exciting proposition.

The film is reportedly slated to go on floors in January 2025. It is written by Vijayendra Prasad. Also, it is said that the action-adventure of the film uses the Amazon rainforest as a key location.

Those in the know believe the film might be released sometime in 2027 or 2028. Ever since the news came out, fans have been excited to see the two working together on-screen. SS Rajamouli, recently, was in Japan for a special screening of RRR. The actor, during his appearance at the event, shared that the writing for SSMB29 is completed and the film is in the pre-production process.

In a video shared by Gulte.com, the RRR director can be seen interacting with the audience as he said, “We started my next film. We completed the writing and we are in the pre-production process. But we haven’t finished the casting yet. Only the hero is locked, his name is Mahesh Babu. He is a very good actor. Many of you know him. He is very handsome. Hopefully, we finish the film a little bit fast and during the release, I will bring him here.”

As reported by News 18, Mahesh Babu starrer is said to draw inspiration from the Indiana Jones franchise. Additionally, speculations are also rife that Mahesh Babu will showcase a six-pack physique in the movie as his character will possess traits similar to Lord Hanuman.

On the work front, the actress recently wrapped a shoot for Citadel 2. She will be next seen in the American action-comedy Heads of State, co-starring Idris Elba and John Cena. The actress recently even confirmed her Bollywood comeback and we are wondering its Jee Le Zaraa.
