Priyanka Chopra recalls wearing a mangalsutra for the first time, says, ‘It was special, but I understood the repercussions’

Priyanka Chopra got married in a royal wedding with Nick Jonas in 2018. The actress was spotted wearing her mangalsutra soon after her wedding at various events. But, the actress says that she was between maintaining the tradition of wearing the mangalsutra but, was also questioning if, ‘is it too patriarchal?’

In a recent video, Priyanka was seen recalling the first time she wore a mangalsutra after her wedding and she said that it was a special moment for her but it also had its repercussions. It was a sponsored video for a jewellery brand. Sharing the video PeeCee wrote, “A conversation starter for sure. “

Priyanka was seen saying in the video, “I remember when I wore mine for the first time… because we have grown with the idea of what it means. It was just a very special moment for me. At the same time, as a modern woman, I also understand the repercussions of what it means. Do I like the idea of wearing mangalsutra or is it too patriarchal? But at the same time, I am that generation that’s sort of in the middle. Maintain tradition but know who you are and what you stand for. And we’ll see the next generation of girls might do differently.”
