While R Madhavan has been setting some major landmarks in the field of acting ever since he joined showbiz, his son has also been following in his father’s footsteps, just in a different field. R Madhavan’s son Vedaant Madhavan is a international-level swimmer and has represented India at various international events, bringing a lot of laurels home in swimming.

Recently, Vedaant broke the national record in 1500 m freestyle stroke at the 48th Junior National Aquatic Championships and bagged the gold medal. R Madhavan took to his twitter to share this proud achievement of his son. Sharing a video of Vedaant from the event, the actor wrote, “Never say never. National Junior Record for 1500m freestyle broken. (sic)”. In the video, the commentator is also heard saying, “Around 16 minutes, he has broken Advait Page’s record at the 780m mark. I did not expect him to do it but he picked up his pace beautifully.”

Vedaant also won the gold medal in the men’s 800m freestyle at the Danish Open in Copenhagen in April this year, and Madhavan had shared this good news with the world through his social media as well. He had earlier won a silver medal at the same swimming event as well. The 16-year-old clocked 15.57.86 in the men’s 1500m freestyle event and finished in the second spot. Apart from that, he had also bagged a bronze medal at the Latvia Open in March 2021. The young swimmer had impressed many at the Junior National Aquatic Championships last year where he had won seven medals, including four silver and three bronze.

As for Madhavan, the actor recently made his directorial debut this year with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The film released earlier this month on July 1 and received positive response from the critics and audiences alike. The biographical drama also saw Madhavan in the eponymous role of scientist Nambi Narayanan.
