Raazi to Sardar Udham: Vicky Kaushal’s patriotic movies have turned out to be successful, will Sam Bahadur create the same magic?

As Sam Bahadur movie starring Vicky Kaushal will be released this week, it has been creating a huge buzz on social media. The movie has garnered immense love from fans, all thanks to Vicky’s uncanny look and his performance as a real-life character. Moreover, the movie is directed by the Raazi actor and fans are convinced that Vicky will prove his acting mettle again with this latest venture. As we talk about Sam Bahadur, we just realised that Vicky’s love for patriotic movies is eternal. Vicky Kaushal has worked in patriotic films like Raazi, URI: The Surgical Strike, Sardar Udham, and Sam Bahadur.

Interestingly, all his patriotic movies have turned out to be successful and it looks like the Sam Manekshaw biopic is also on its way. As we are yet to see the magic, let’s revisit his patriotic movies.

Vicky Kaushal and his patriotic movies

Raazi

Raazi starring Vicky and Alia Bhatt was one of the hit movies in 2018. It established Vicky as a rising star, all thanks to his terrific performance. The movie also fared well at the box office as the lifetime collection of Raazi was Rs 123 crore. In the movie, Vicky played a Pakistani officer whereas Alia played the role of an Indian spy who wanted to save India from a big attack. Vicky Kaushal aced in this patriotic movie and looked handsome in the uniform.

URI: The Surgical Strike

URI starring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam turned out to be a huge success back in 2019. Based on true events, the patriotic movie did some serious damage to the box office as the lifetime collection of URI was Rs 245 crores. After giving back-to-back hits with Raazi and Sanju, Vicky also evolved into a huge star. So much so that, he even bagged the prestigious National Award for Best Actor. URI was not just a movie but an emotion for many. It still ignites a sense of patriotism among every individual and that’s what URI is all about.

Sardar Udham

Vicky + patriotism = a deadly combination. He has always proved his acting prowess in such movies which have turned out to be fruitful. Though it wasn’t released in theatres, the movie still was a success in the OTT space. Vicky played the titular role and garnered immense love and appreciation for essaying a real-life character. Sardar Udham also won National Awards in categories like Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Autobiography. Vicky was also nominated in the Best Actor category but didn’t win.

Sam Bahadur

Once again Vicky Kaushal will be seen in a patriotic movie and as an army officer in Sam Bahadur. After the trailer was released, fans considered that he looked fantastic as a real-life character. From his fierce look to his accent, Vicky aced in all departments. Fans feel he will bag another Best Actor National Award. Even though it is clashing with Animal, fans are unfazed about it as the film has already garnered a good response.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Vicky Kaushal plays the titular role of Sam Manekshaw. The movie also stars Sanya Malhotra as his wife and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Sam Bahadur is scheduled to release on December 1 along with Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal.
