Today the entire nation is celebrating Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s 160th birth anniversary. Tagore was a poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer, painter and one of the most influential literary personalities ever. The first Asian to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, Tagore was a legend who was instrumental in bringing about the Bengal renaissance.

Born on May 7, 1861,  Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary is celebrated as Rabindra Jayanti. Marking the occasion, actor-filmmaker Farhan shared a video of the Nobel laureate singing the National Anthem.

Farhan Akhtar wishing his fans and followers on Rabindra Jayanti, wrote, “#RabindranathTagore jayanti is the perfect day to hear from the man himself (sic).”

Interestingly apart from India, Tagore has also written the National Anthem of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Shah Rukh Khan’s Production House, Red Chillies VFX tweeted,As we celebrate #RabindranathTagoreJayanti, we offer our respects to the person who reshaped art & literature, whose work gave us our National Anthem; his famous words ‘Facts are many, but the truth is one’, fits perfectly in the current scenario. The truth of staying at home! (sic).”

Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu also paid tribute to Tagore on his birth anniversary. “Humble tributes to Gurudev #RabindranathTagore on his Jayanti. Through his works, Gurudev brought about a great confluence of our ancient wisdom and modern reason. His powerful words inspired our freedom struggle too. Let us strive to live by his ideals as a true homage to him(sic).”

Tagore still continues to inspire writer and artists all over the world.
