Raj Babbar opens up about son Prateik Babbar’s dark phase, reveals ‘He had troubled everyone’

Prateik Babbar, son of Raj Babbbar and late actress Smita Patil, recently collaborated with Madhur Bhandarkar for India Lockdown. His role of a migrant worker who struggles to reach village with his family got him appreciation. He started his journey in film with 2008 Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, and went on to appear in films like Dhobi Ghat, Chhichhore,  Bachchan Pandey, among others.

However, his journey in the industry was not easy. There was a time the actor didn’t had work and things were not going his way. Talking about the same, his father, actor Raj Babbar revealed in an interview that he troubled everyone.

Raj Babbar on Prateik Babbar’s dark phase

Recently, Raj opened up about his son’s dark phase while talking to a news portal. He reportedly said, “Prateik is there (film industry) and he is doing everything. He is very sincerely working. Beech mein ek waqt aaya tha jab usne sabko pareshan kiya tha aur khud bhi pareshan raha tha lekin ab usne apne aap ko iss tarah se mold kiya hai. God is very kind. (There was a time in between when he troubled everyone and was troubled himself but now he has molded himself. He is doing good work, he is getting good offers).”

Earlier, in an interview with a news portal, Prateik Babbar had revealed that he turned alcoholic as he was not getting work. He said, “I was battling with myself. The drugs and alcohol didn’t help, in fact they made it worse. I had an overdose and almost died. They woke me up a little. I had to learn it the hard way.”

For those unaware, Prateik Babbar is son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patil. She died weeks after Prateik was born.  Smita was Raj’s second wife. Prior to her he was married to Nadira Babbar and has two children, Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar from her. Prateik is currently dating actress Priya Banerjee. the two made their relationship official earlier this year.
