Raj Kummar Rao

The trailer of Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘Trapped’ has scintillated everyone with its path-breaking concept and tremendously effective performance from lead actor Raj Kummar Rao. What would you do if you were trapped inside your house without light, electricity, food, water? Sounds scary, right?

Well, it is not any cakewalk for an actor either. For this particular role, Raj Kummar had to deprive himself of almost all kind of food, for three weeks.

During the trailer launch event, he shared how he stayed solely on black coffee and carrots for 20 long days. (Also Read: Raj Kummar Rao learns Khariboli for ‘Bareilly ki Barfi’)

‘“I had to go on a very strict diet and had to survive on black coffee and carrots for 20 days. During lunch time when the team would have proper food, I  would go inside the room where a cup of coffee and carrot used to be kept for me. If I would have had my regular food daily, it wouldn’t have been possible to see any change in my body after getting trapped in an empty room without food and water,” Raj Kummar said.

“It was physically and mentally exhausting for me to live in that space for almost 18-20 days and to eat nothing. Trust me it’s scary to hell. If I just ask you not to eat for two days. You will feel so frustrated and angry on everything. There were times when there were black outs and I had to sit for a moment (to come back where he was). But, that’s also the fun of in being an actor as you don’t get such films in your career. I feel very lucky that I get to play such parts and work with these (Vikramaditya and Vikas Bahl) two fantastic filmmakers. The only point of being an actor is to challenge yourself; if you keep doing the same thing again and again it gets very monotonous and boring…go do something else then, you can’t be in a creative job”, he added.

This reminds us how Randeep Hooda starved himself for months to get into the skins of a thin, distressed Sarabjit Singh. It sure is taxing, but method actors would go to any extent to deliver their perfect performance!

‘Trapped’ is set to release on March 17.
