Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra is currently in 14-day judicial custody. His bail plea was rejected again on July 28. On July 19, Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch for alleged production and distribution of pornographic content in mobile apps. The latest update in the case is that Shilpa Shetty has now moved to Bombay High Court and filed a defamation suit against 29 media personnel & media houses for ‘doing false reporting & maligning her image’ against her in Raj Kundra’s pornography case.
As per Live Law, she has filed a suit through Parinam Law Associates and alleged that media houses uploaded the impugned articles with an intent to increase their readership by sensationalizing news and reporting false statements that are damaging her reputation. Shilpa has also demanded an unconditional apology from certain media houses and removal of all defamatory content and compensation of Rs 25 crores.
The petition states, “Defendants be jointly and severally ordered and decreed to pay the Applicant an amount of Rs. 25 Crores as and by way of damages together with interest thereon @ 18% p.a. from the date of filing of the suit till payment and/or realization and/or for other interim/ad-interim reliefs as prayed for in the Plaint and the captioned Application”.

As per a report in TOI, Shilpa has also stated that the defamatory articles and videos published in her name have lowered her reputation in the eyes of her fans, followers, brand endorsement companies, business associates, and peers. Also, it stated that these articles have maligned the image of her family members, her children, and elderly parents and close associates to hatred, ridicule and contempt, and she had faced business and professional loss also.
