Raj Kundra was arrested by Mumbai Police on July 19 for alleged production and distribution of pornographic films through mobile applications. As per police he was the “key conspirator” of the racket and was charged under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with other sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. He was sent to police custody till July 27. Today, the Bombay High Court will hear the bail application of the businessman. The pics of him coming out from the Byculla jail have surfaced. He will be produced before the court.
On Sunday, in relation to the pornography racket case, Mumbai Crime Branch had directed to seize two State Bank accounts of Kundra and actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra at Kanpur as said State Bank Of India officials. As per the officials, crores of rupees had been deposited in these two bank accounts.
ANI reported that Raj Kundra was anticipating his arrest after the Mumbai Police took nine people into custody in connection with the creation and distribution of pornography. The report also stated that he already had ‘Plan B’ to dodge investigation and he also changed his phone in March so that data could not be recovered. An official told ANI, “When crime branch officials asked him about his old phone, he told them he threw it away. Police believe that the old phone contains many important pieces of evidence and is looking for it.”

Mumbai Police’s crime branch has appointed a financial auditor to investigate the money trail of Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty and their alleged involvement in this racket.
