Raj Thackeray

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray had recently asked the theatre owners to screen Marathi Films during prime time, that is between 6 pm to 9 pm. Now the screening of non-Marathi films in theatres has raised the hackles of the political leader. The party has taken offence and set up a diktat for theater owners to follow.

Ameya Khopkar, president of MNS Cine Workers Wing said, “We have told theatres that they should give preference to Marathi films during prime time. In south India, films from the region are given preference. The same should happen in Maharashtra.”

Sources added, MNS is not against screening of regional movies, but they want Marathi Films to be screened at Prime Time. Last week they had staged a protest outside a theatre in Borivali for screening a Gujarati film.

We shall keep you updated on this matter soon.
