India’s first superstar, Rajesh Khanna, left an unforgettable imprint on Indian cinema. And now his granddaughter is poised to uphold his illustrious legacy. Reports indicate that Naomika Saran, the granddaughter of Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, is gearing up for her Bollywood debut this year.
Agastya Nanda & Naomika Saran to share screen space
As reported by PeepingMoon, Naomika will be introduced to the silver screen by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films in a romantic comedy opposite Agastya Nanda. He is the grandson of the iconic Amitabh Bachchan. While specifics about the project are still under wraps, industry insiders suggest it will embody the typical Maddock style. It will feature commercial love story enriched with vibrant music, dynamic dance sequences, and engaging family drama.
The film will be helmed by acclaimed Punjabi filmmaker Jagdeep Sidhu, known for blockbuster hits like Qismat, Qismat 2, Shadaa, and Jatt & Juliet 3. This project marks Sidhu’s directorial debut in Hindi cinema after his successful stint as a dialogue writer on celebrated biopics such as Saand Ki Aankh and Srikanth.
About Naomika
At just 21 years old, Naomika has recently garnered attention for her striking resemblance to her grandmother, Dimple Kapadia. During the screening of her uncle Akshay Kumar’s aerial action film Sky Force. She is the daughter of Khanna’s younger daughter Rinke Khanna and businessman Sameer Saran. Growing up in a film-oriented family, Naomika has always aspired to pursue acting. And now, with Dinesh Vijan’s guidance, she is set to realize her dream and continue her family’s cinematic heritage.
A Significant Collaboration
This untitled project is particularly significant as it unites the grandchildren of two of Indian cinema’s greatest icons—Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna—on screen, nearly half a century after the legendary actors co-starred in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s cult classics, Anand (1971) and Namak Haraam (1973). While Naomika is making her debut, Agastya Nanda has already embarked on his acting journey with Netflix India’s The Archies and is currently filming Sriram Raghavan’s biopic on Arun Kheterpal, titled Ikkis, also produced by Maddock Films.
