On February 9, veteran actor Rajiv Kapoor, younger son of Raj Kapoor breathed his last in Mumbai. He was only 58. The late actor’s last rites were performed at Chembur crematorium in Mumbai and the Kapoor family bid adieu to yet another member of their home. Last year April Rishi Kapoor also passed away.
Members of the Kapoor family were snapped in Mumbai yesterday after the funeral. The last rites of the actor were performed in the evening, with Ranbir lending a shoulder to his uncle’s mortal remains. Aadar Jain and other family members were also present at the funeral. Ranbir’s girlfriend Alia Bhatt and Aadar’s girlfriend Tara Sutaria also arrived and paid their last respects to the actor.
Rajiv’s industry friends including Shah Rukh Khan, Chunky Pandey, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker producer of his last film Toolsidas Junior also snapped at his Chembur’s home. After the last rites, Ranbir was snapped along with Randhir Kapoor, heading out of the crematorium. But due to the current pandemic situation, there will be no Chautha for the late Ram Teri Ganga Maili actor. Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan and Neetu Kapoor shared a small note on their social media handle.
The note says, ‘Due to the current pandemic circumstances, there will be no Chautha held for the late Mr. Rajiv Kapoor for safety reasons. May his soul rest in peace. The entire Raj Kapoor family is a part of your grief too.’
Rajiv Kapoor suffered a massive cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital by elder brother Randhir Kapoor, the doctors had declared him dead. The actor was fondly known by the nickname Chimpu turned a film producer with the 1991 film Heena starring Rishi Kapoor and Zeba Bakhtiar.
