Filmmaker Rajiv Rai is known for his blockbusters like ‘Gupt’, ‘Mohra’, ‘Tridev’ and many others. He is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood after a gap of 15 years. Not many know that it was Rajiv Rai who had given a break to actor Arjun Rampal in his film ‘Pyar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat’. The filmmaker, who is making a comeback with a murder mystery, might work on a sequel of his hit thriller drama ‘Gupt’.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Rai said, “I haven’t really written a version of ‘Gupt’ but I have a concept that I might want to do in a few years from now. If I was to do ‘Gupt 2’, it won’t be a sequel as Kajol dies at the end and it ends happily. I wouldn’t mind franchising ‘Gupt’ if the story I write is better than the first one. I might just use the title, the soul of the film and the names of the characters but story and cast wise, it will be a completely different film. It’s something like how the Bhatts have franchised the ‘Murder’ series.”
The filmmaker has narrowed down on a script that he feels will be one of the best murder mystery stories. The script is locked with dialogues and he will soon announce the star cast.
For the uninitiated, ‘Gupt’ featured Bobby Deol, Kajol and Manisha Koirala in pivotal roles. The story of the thriller was a love triangle. Kajol’s performance as a psychotic stalker in the film is still remembered by fans till date.
