The Rajkummar Rao-starrer ‘Newton’ which is India’s official entry for the prestigious Oscars is out of the race now. The movie which was sent in the Best Foreign Language Film category has not made it to the shortlisted list of movies in the said category.

On Thursday, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that nine features have progressed to the next round in the Foreign Language Film category. Movies like ‘A Fantastic Woman’ (Chile), ‘In the Fade’ (Germany), ‘On Body and Soula’ (Hungary), ‘Foxtrot’ (Israel), ‘The Insult’ (Lebanon), ‘Loveless’ (Russia), ‘Felicite’ (Senegal), ‘The Wound’ (South Africa) and ‘The Square’ (Sweden) have made the cut to the shortlist.
