Rajkummar Rao has made a mark in the industry with his great performances in films like ‘Shahid’, ‘Aligarh’, ‘Citylights’, ‘Trapped’, etc. He is just 33-year-old, and has achieved a lot as he has been balancing between parallel and commercial cinema, quite well.
Recently, when he was asked as to what has changed for him after achieving so much, the actor said, “No, nothing much has changed in me as an actor. Since the day I started out, I always wanted to be part of good stories. The only thing that has changed is, now I have options of good stories to choose from….”
“Earlier, it was just to get an opportunity to get there. Earlier, it was more of looking for my next film, now it is about choosing the best,” Rao added. (Also Read: ‘Omerta’ could be a disturbing watch for some, says Rajkummar Rao)
Rao will next be seen in ‘Newton’ which is said to be an art film. However, the actor says that he has never differentiated between parallel and mainstream cinema. He said, “I have never compartmentalised all these. For me, they are about stories. A film like ‘Kai Po Che!’, ‘Queen’, ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ and ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ are not really independent films. Can you call them one? Especially at the phase where the lines between the two (commercial and parallel cinema) are diminishing… this is an interesting time.”
Apart from ‘Newton’, Rao also has ‘Fanney Khan’ in his kitty in which he will be seen opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
