Raksha Bandhan: Akshay Kumar starts shooting for Aanand L Rai’s directorial; dedicates the film to his sister Alka

Actor Akshay Kumar has kickstarted shooting for his upcoming film Raksha Bandhan that also stars Bhumi Pednekar. On the first day of the shoot, Akshay dropped a picture of himself from the set with director Aanand L Rai and shared a special post for his sister, Alka Hiranandani. In the post, Akshay wrote that his sister Alka was his first friend and he wants to dedicate Raksha Bandhan to her. In the picture, Akshay can be seen in a yellow kurta and grey pants and a teeka on his forehead, and both he and Rai are seemed to be discussing something.

Sharing the picture, Akki wrote, “Growing up my sister, Alka was my first friend. It was the most effortless friendship.@aanandlrai’s #RakshaBandhan is a dedication to her and a celebration of that special bond ♥️

Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb and Smrithi Srikanth are playing the role of Akshay’s sisters in the film. Raksha Bandhan is presented and distributed by Zee Studios in association with Alka Hiranandani and Aanand L Rai. It is written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon.

Apart from Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar will be seen in Bell Bottom, Sooryavanshi, Prithviraj, Bachchan Pandey and Atrangi Re. Yesterday, we gave you the exclusive news that the makers of Sooryavanshi are eyeing for the Independence day release. A source informed, “With Akshay Kumar announcing the release date for Bell Bottom, the filmmakers are now waiting to see how the opening of theatres will be received by the audience. In any case, with Independence Day approaching, the producers and makers are of the opinion that Sooryavanshi might be a perfect release for the date. However, with Rohit Shetty in Cape Town, a final decision is yet to be taken. But, if everything goes well, Sooryavanshi might finally see the light of the day.”
