On October 19, Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Ekta Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Anurag Basu among others met and interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Change Within initiative. The event was held at the official residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. The interaction was to discuss initiatives to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The main motive behind inviting the Bollywood and television fraternity was to tell them to create films and television shows to popularise Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhism.
But not a single star from the South industry was seen at the event. This didn’t go well with the Telugu actor Ram Charan’s wife Upasana. She took to her Instagram handle and asked PM Modi why he has neglected the South Indian Film Industry.
Addressing PM Modi, she wrote, “We in the South of INDIA admire you & are Proud to have you as our Prime Minister. With all due respect we felt that the representation of Leading personalities & cultural icons was limited only to Hindi Artists and The South Film Industry was neglected. I express my feelings with pain & hope it’s taken in the right spirit. Jai Hind.”
