Ram Jethmalani demise: Farhan Akhtar, Nimrat Kaur mourn the death of eminent lawyer and Union minister

Former Union law minister and eminent lawyer, Ram Jethmalani breathed his last today early morning. He was 95-year-old and was unwell for the past few months. His son, a noted lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani told PTI that his last rites will be performed today evening at Lodhi road crematorium in Delhi.

Upon learning about his demise, Bollywood celebs like Farhan Akhtar and Nimrat Kaur took to Twitter to express their grief. Filmmaker-actor Farhan wrote, “RIP #RamJethmalani ji. The time spent in conversation with you has always remained etched fondly in my memory. Condolences to the family.”

Whereas ‘Airlift’ actress Nimrat Kaur wrote, “Growing up, no matter where you were in India, when one learnt of law as a profession, the one name you learnt of that personified it, was Ram Jethmalani. A great man leaves behind a legacy urban folklore is made of. Salute him for his indelible work.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed sadness over Jethmalani’s death. “In the passing away of Shri Ram Jethmalani Ji, India has lost an exceptional lawyer and iconic public figure who made rich contributions both in the Court and Parliament. He was witty, courageous and never shied away from boldly expressing himself on any subject,” he wrote.
