Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt crossed several milestones in their personal and professional lives this year. From getting married to announcing their first pregnancy and releasing their first film together Brahmastra, the couple has hadd many reasons to celebrate in 2022. Brahmastra became a huge rage on its release and its box office collection has crossed the figure of Rs 410 crore globally already. But even before the film’s trailer was released, Ayan Mukerji gave the nation the love anthem Kesariya as a gift to Ranbir-Alia before their wedding, and the song became an instant favourite.

In July this year, the director finally unveiled the full video of the song and the audience just loved Kesariya all the more post that. The romance between Ranbir and Alia on the streets of Banaras just spelt love and everyone was left smitten by it. However, if things would have worked out differently, we might have got something quite opposite visually. During a recently held event at FICCI, Ayan and producer Karan Johar shared the story of what all went behind Kesariya and how the song almost came out differently.

While talking about the creative arguments during the filming of Brahmastra, Ayan shared, “There was stuff which Karan did not like. There was a big Kaali Puja sequence in the film. When you (Karan) saw the sequence, you were very harsh. He really bit**** about it. I hope I am allowed to say that word,” and it was in response to it that Karan revealed the story behind Kesariya reshoot. He said, “I never did that. I said that the scene was very terrible and I said I think you need to re-shoot it. And there was actually, and we can say it now, Kesariya was shot in another way.”
Sharing the story behind it, Karan revealed how they did a reshoot for Kesariya, as he said, “Kesariya was shot with Ranbir dancing quite feverishly. When we saw the song, I said ‘What the hell is going on? What is wrong with you Ayan?’. Why were they dancing? Kesariya was shot differently. Same tune and melody, but treated differently. It is then that Ayan realised it has to be treated differently.”

Well, the final product actually justifies Karan’s doubts as Kesariya’s video turned out beautifully. Even Brahmastra has been receiving immense love for over two weeks now and Bollywood Bubble in its review had stated about the film, “Just like the name Brahmastra, it showcased the larger-than-life moment on the celluloid. If I have to give a one-word review to Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer, then it has to be EPIC. “
