Last year, Ranbir Kapoor starred in Shamshera. Ranbir played a dual role in the Karan Malhotra directorial which tanked at the box office. Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor were also a part of the film. Now, in a recent virtual interaction, Ranbir Kapoor proved he is a funny guy with his witty response to a fan who said that she really liked Shamshera.
Here’s how Ranbir reacted to his female fan…
Reportedly, when a fan praised Ranbir starrer Shamshera, he laughed and replied, “If you liked Shamshera, then you are a blind fan.” When RK’s fan shared that she liked the concept of the film, Ranbir replied, “The story of Shamshera was a little dated. It felt like you have seen this before, there wasn’t any newness to it. It didn’t work. The audience is the king. If they didn’t like it, they are right.”
This isn’t the first time Ranbir spoke about the film’s failure. Earlier, during Brahmastra promotions, Ranbir had admitted the content of Shamshera wasn’t good. He had said, “If Shamshera didn’t run at the box office it means the audience didn’t like the film. The film didn’t work because the content wasn’t good.”
Post Shamshera, Ranbir featured in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. Brahmastra also starring Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna was a hit at the box office. Earlier this year, Ayan shared an update on Brahmastra 2 and 3. The filmmaker revealed that Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev will release on December 2006 and Brahmastra 3 will hit the theatre screens in 2017.
On the other hand, Ranbir is currently busy with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Animal marks the first collaboration of Ranbir and Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Earlier this year, the makers of Animal revealed Ranbir’s first look and left his fans beyond excited. The Brahmastra actor will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in the upcoming project. Animal is slated to release on August 11th, 2023.
