Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his upcoming rom-com Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The Luv Ranjan directorial also features Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead. The Brahmastra star who is busy promoting his movie recently opened up on his statement about working in Pakistani films.
For the unversed, Last year, at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia Ranbir Kapoor said he has no qualms about working with a Pakistani filmmaker. The actor was soon trolled for his statement. But Barfi star says that his statement was “misconstrued”.
In an interaction with the media during TJMM promotions in Chandigarh Ranbir Kapoor when asked about his remarks on being open to working in Pakistani films said, “I think yeh thoda mera statement misconstrues ho gaya tha. I had gone for a film festival and there were a lot of Pakistani filmmakers asking me this question, you know, I don’t think itni bhi badi controversy hui. (It was not a big controversy) But, for me, films are films, art is art. I have worked with Fawad (Khan) in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.“
He further added, “I have known a lot of artists from Pakistan. Rahat (Fateh Ali Khan) and Atif Aslam are such great singers who used to contribute to Hindi cinema. So, cinema is cinema. I don’t think cinema sees boundaries. But, of course, you have to respect art but at the same time, art is not bigger than your country. So, anybody who is not on good terms with your country, your first priority will always be your country.”
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The movie also features Shraddha Kapoor and will release on March 8. He also has Sandeep Reddy Venga’s Animal co-starring Rashmika Mandanna.
