Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor recently graced the 2017 Global Teacher Prize, a vibrant event that took place in Dubai. We also Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in attendance. The event was full of quality discussions and was followed by a fun-filled party.

Ranbir, who introduced two video messages respectively from England’s Prince Harry and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, also delivered an honest speech and received loud applause.

And the most interesting part was when he recollected how, during his student-hood, he spent most of his time outside the classroom and not inside! (Also Read: Was Mahira Khan pleading for something in front of Ranbir Kapoor?)

“People think that I am an actor because my parents are actors. But, in truth, the only reason I wanted to become an actor was to get away from studies. I even took one-line roles, small parts in the background in theatre productions, so that I could bunk classes,” he chuckled.

The Kapoor lad also drew comparison between acting and teaching, and it compelled us to think further.

“As an actor, I’ve often thought of how acting and teaching are close cousins. Both require limitless reserves of energy and enthusiasm. Both require humour, empathy, a gift for expressing ideas and holding the attention of an audience. And, both are jobs that come with homework in the after-hours,” he said.

Limitless energy and enthusiasm are what he himself has been putting in as well! Ranbir will soon be seen in Samjay Dutt’s biopic, playing the lead. ‘Jagga Jasoos’ wherein he pairs with former girlfriend Katrina kaif awaits a release as well!
